This solutions article will go over the process to initiate and complete a goods movement.
Scenario: During the fulfillment of a sales order or service confirmation, you are receiving a notification that there isn't enough stock available for the product.
You checked the inventory via Stock Overview and you have enough on-hand, however the product is located in the 1000-12 logistics area. You can use a goods movement to stick the product back in the appropriate logistics area, 1000-10.
Work Center: Internal Logistics
Common Task: Goods Movement
On the goods movement page, fill in the site, storage location and planning area. Then, click "Add Row" and input the details for the product such as Product ID, Quantity of the movement and the source logistics area.
- Input "Site" information
- Click "Add Row"
- Input the product ID
- Input the movement amount quantity
- Fill in the "Source Logistics Area"
- Click "Next"
After clicking next, you'll just need to input the "Target Logistics Area ID" on this page.
- Input "Target Logistics Area ID"
- Click "Next" again
On the next page, it will have all of the information you have entered so far and will also have the amount that is currently in the source logistics area.
You will not need to do anything on this page, as it's for verification purposes.
Do not move all of the product in the "Product On-hand Quantity" unless specified to do so. Products sit in the 1000-12 area before shipping, so they could be in the 1000-12 logistics area awaiting other products to be fulfilled.
- Click the "Finish" button
Once the Goods Movement has been completed, you can view the product in Stock Overview to verify it moved to the appropriate logistics area.
